Dreams often reveal the stories inside our souls. They project pictures of fears and ambitions to the walls of our craniums while we sleep. Their consistency depends on the richness of our realities.
Dreams can also be symptomatic of a running mind refusing to stop.
Research indicates several key themes in dreams. Themes include having superhero powers, experiencing death, and previewing future events. Researchers have also identified evidence that we dream 3-6 times per night and forget 95 percent of the content.
Last week, I shared a piece published on The Good Men Project. In the article, I explain how King’s dreams of equity fueled his actions, steered by love as a core value. I challenged readers to spread the love from their families expressed on Valentine’s Day into the community.

Perhaps that call to action was a dream. You read the piece and categorized the suggestion as fantasy. You finished the article without the inspiration to act.
It happens.
Before I lose you today, I encourage you to write about your dreams.
Make it one of the first things you do before beginning tomorrow's work or activities. Ideally, you will make time before breakfast. The less time you put between dreaming and writing, the more precise the results will be.
Why would you do this? In addition to providing insights into fears and ambitions, dreams can help you identify directions to where you want to go in life. The aforementioned research also supports the idea that dreaming helps consolidate memories and enhances learning.
Dreams are how the subconscious communicates with a conscious Creator. They can tell us which activities matter in the process of achieving greatness. Dreams can help you visualize extrinsic motivators loaded with the potential to pull the intrinsic drivers forward.
You must pay attention to the stories inside that inform identity and direct destiny.
Death showed up as a recurring theme in this week’s dreams. One night, my children died, and in another one, somebody killed me. My wife didn't play a role in either dream.
If we come up missing in the next few days, please look for her! I’m joking. She wouldn’t hurt us.
I interpreted my dreams as implications for maximizing family time and producing work that matters.
The morbid messages motivated me. Every day, I wrote with intensity and clarity. I checked in frequently when I traveled for work and rushed home from the airport.
This weekend, I anticipate a struggle to appreciate the downtime.
Taking a break is hard when writing serves passionate and purposeful work. The world becomes a notebook with empty lines waiting for the objects, verbs, adjectives, and nouns to appear.
Today’s ideas might influence tonight’s dreams.
